The Reverend was a highly decorated figure and was presented with two awards by the Imperial Palace of the Song Dynasty. Unfortunately, he took his last breath at age 65, and worshipping him is a regular affair for many families. Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong, the architect of the present-day Genting Highlands, came up with the proposal for constructing Chin Swee Caves Temple in Genting Highlands. While the casino and hotel construction was going on, he found a cool rocky plateau to build the temple.

His ideas led to the formation of the Chin Swee Temple Society and his friends and relatives belonging to his ancestral village, Penglai, and the Anxi Clan. Late Tan Sri Lim took over as the temple's architect, planner, and designer. However, the whole process of the development of the Temple was tedious and complex because of the rough and rocky terrain of the Genting Highlands. It took a whopping 18 years to finish the temple construction, and the public got a chance to visit the temple on 29 March 1994.
